Submit an RTMS app for review

Once you've successfully implemented Realtime Media Streams (RTMS) features and are ready to make your app available to external users, you'll need to submit your app for Zoom's App Review process. This review ensures that your app meets Zoom's functional and security standards before it can be added by users outside your Zoom account.

You'll need to have developer pack credits to get your app approved. For more information, reach out to your account team. If you don't have an existing account team contact, fill out this form to reach out to our team.

When to submit app for review

Submit your app for review once you've tested the RTMS integration, verifying that all features such as webhooks, scopes, and SDKs are working.

Getting the app approved is required before your app can be added by users outside your Zoom account.

App availability

During the submission process, you can choose how your app will be made available. For more information, see App discoverability and activation.

  • Public App (Listed) - Publish your app on the Zoom App Marketplace, where it can be discovered and installed by millions of Zoom users.
  • Unlisted App - Make your app publicly accessible through a direct Authorization URL, but not discoverable through search or category browsing. Choose this option if you want broader access to your app without Marketplace visibility. For more information, see Set my app as Unlisted..
  • Beta App - Make your app available to a limited audience for testing. You can share your app using an authorization URL, subject to certain limitations. For more information, see Sharing private and beta apps.
  • Private App - Restrict your app's access to users within your Zoom account. This is ideal for internal tools or solutions not intended for external distribution. For more information, see Sharing private and beta apps.

Whether you choose to list your app or not, App Review is required for any app that is distributed to users outside your Zoom account.

What to expect during app Review

Once submitted, your app will be reviewed by Zoom's App Review team. The reviewers will evaluate your app's implementation of RTMS and other declared scopes or SDKs. Make sure your app includes clear instructions for reviewers on how to trigger RTMS-related features and access relevant functionality.

The reviewers will do the following:

  1. Authorize the app using a Zoom test account to simulate an external user flow.
  2. Verify functionality of all RTMS features.
  3. Confirm proper use of declared scopes. For example, if you've declared the meeting:read:meeting_audio, or webinar:read:audio, scope, the reviewer will test that the corresponding feature in your app retrieves and uses meeting, or webinar, audio data appropriately.

Now that you've submitted your app for review and approval, monitor your email and App Submission status for any feedback or required changes. For more information, see Check review status.
