# Multi-language support The [`updateLanguageTranslation`](https://marketplacefront.zoom.us/sdk/meeting/web/components/functions/EmbeddedClient.updateLanguageTranslation.html) function allows you to update the translation strings for a supported language. This is useful for: - **Customizing terminology** — Replace default Zoom strings with your own branding or terminology - **Adding missing translations** — Supplement partial translations for a language - **Overriding specific keys** — Change only the strings you need without replacing the entire language bundle ## Supported Languages The following language codes are supported: | **Language Code** | **Language** | | ----------------- | --------------------- | | `en-US` | English (US) | | `de-DE` | German | | `es-ES` | Spanish | | `fr-FR` | French | | `jp-JP` | Japanese | | `pt-PT` | Portuguese (Portugal) | | `ru-RU` | Russian | | `zh-CN` | Chinese (Simplified) | | `zh-TW` | Chinese (Traditional) | | `ko-KO` | Korean | | `vi-VN` | Vietnamese | | `it-IT` | Italian | | `pl-PL` | Polish | | `tr-TR` | Turkish | | `id-ID` | Indonesian | | `nl-NL` | Dutch | | `sv-SE` | Swedish | ## API signature ```typescript function updateLanguageTranslation( lng: LanguageOptionType, userLangDict: Object, ): ExecutedResult; ``` - **`lng`** — The target language code (e.g., `en-US`, `zh-CN`) - **`userLangDict`** — An object mapping translation keys to their new values - **Returns** — A `Promise`. Resolves with an empty string on success; rejects with an error (e.g., "Invalid parameter") if the language is invalid. ## Sample code ```javascript import ZoomMtgEmbedded from "@zoom/meetingsdk/embedded"; const client = ZoomMtgEmbedded.createClient(); // After init and join, pass the language code and a key-value map of translations client .updateLanguageTranslation("en-US", { key1: "value1", key2: "value2", }) .then(() => { console.log("Translations updated successfully"); }) .catch((error) => { console.error("Failed to update translations:", error); }); ``` ## Language interpretation limitation Language interpretation can't be initiated or managed when using the Zoom mobile app, web app, or Meeting SDK for web. Participants joining from the Zoom mobile app or web app can only listen to interpretation audio channels and view interpreted text. When you adding participants to become an interpreter during the meeting, they must use a native client See [Using Language Interpretation in your meeting or webinar](https://support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb&sysparm_article=KB0064768) for details.
