Transfer server-to-server app ownerhsip

Zoom server-to-server apps require an owner. What happens when the app owner leaves or is no longer a member of the Zoom account? Here, we discuss two options for handling transfer of ownership to prevent app downtime.

Automatically transfer app ownership

To prevent app disruptions, when an app owner leaves a Zoom account, Zoom's default behavior is to automatically transfer the app ownership to the account owner, and notify the account owner of the transfer.

The account owner then can choose to retain the ownership or assign it to another user.

Manually transfer app ownership

To transfer the ownership of a server-to-server (S2S) app to another user in your account, the app owner:

  1. Log into your Zoom App Marketplace account and navigate to the Created Apps page.

  2. Click the action menu next to your app and select Transfer App Owner.

  3. Enter the email of the new app owner and click Transfer.

The Marketplace displays a confirmation message that you have initiated the app transfer and notifies the new app owner.

The new app owner:

  1. The new app owner receives notification of the transfer request in several ways. Click Confirm in any of the notifications to confirm the transfer.

    • In an email.
    • In their Marketplace apps listing as a pop-up message.
    • In their Marketplace apps listing with Pending Transfer next to the new app.

If the new app owner doesn't have sufficient permissions, Zoom displays an error message. Contact your account administrator to add the required permissions in the message.

  2. To complete the app transfer, the new app owner must rotate the app credentials.

They have 30 days from the initiation date of the app transfer to complete the app credential rotation. If they don't complete the transfer in the allotted days the transfer is canceled.

They can do so by clicking Complete Rotation in the app listing page...

Or on the App Credentials page for the app:
